The survey of 450 likely voters was conducted Monday and Tuesday and has a margin of error of 4.6 percentage points.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">After undecided voters are asked which candidate they are leaning toward, Heinrich\u2019s lead drops to 5 points in the poll, 50 percent to 45 percent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SN05wgTkQ0I\/AAAAAAAAI1c\/OStHyQNpwck\/s1600-h\/White,+Darren.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SN05wgTkQ0I\/AAAAAAAAI1c\/OStHyQNpwck\/s200\/White,+Darren.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5250416246052373314\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>The question that was asked: \u201cThinking about the election for U.S. Congress in November, if the election for U.S. Congress were held today and the candidates were Democrat Martin Heinrich and Republican Darren White &#8212; for whom would you vote, Democrat Martin Heinrich or Republican Darren White?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The most recent independent poll, a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rollcall.com\/issues\/54_26\/politics\/27920-1.html\" target=\"_blank\">SurveyUSA poll<\/a> conducted for the <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Washington<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> publication Roll Call a month ago, had Heinrich leading by 5 points, 51 percent to 46 percent. That poll of 631 likely voters, conducted Aug. 26-28, has a margin of error of 4 percentage points.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size:130%;\">Heinrich slams White in new ad<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Meanwhile, Heinrich unveiled a new TV ad today in which he slams White. The ad states that \u201cthe wives of police officers said White endangered their husbands\u2019 lives,\u201d while the words \u201cWhite endangered officers\u2019 lives\u201d flash across the screen. The ad cites an article from the Santa Fe New Mexican to back up its claim.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Here\u2019s the ad:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><object width=\"420\" height=\"340\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/D2RCIXEk_P0&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/D2RCIXEk_P0&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" width=\"420\" height=\"340\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">White, in a news release, said Heinrich has \u201csunk to a new low\u201d with the ad. <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cDebating issues is one thing, but Martin Heinrich airing a television ad suggesting that I would endanger the lives of police officers crosses the line and is a despicable and sad example of \u2018say-anything-to-win\u2019 politics,\u201d White said. \u201cI have dedicated my life to serving in law enforcement and I know the pain of losing an officer in the line of duty under my command.
