The party plans to hold a \u201cchange for change\u201d fundraiser for employees of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kbobs.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">K-BOB\u2019S<\/a>, Tinsley\u2019s business, in <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Las Cruces<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> at noon. They\u2019ll serve K-BOB\u2019s food and ask people to \u201cgive what they can, even change, to benefit Ed Tinsley\u2019s employees, who work for low wages without benefits,\u201d according to a news release from the party.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Las Cruces Mayor <a href=\"http:\/\/www.las-cruces.org\/council\/mayor.shtm\" target=\"_blank\">Ken Miyagishima<\/a> will be among those in attendance. The event will be held at <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Young<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">Park<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place>, <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?f=q&amp;hl=en&amp;geocode=&amp;q=1905+Nevada+Ave.,+las+cruces&amp;sll=37.0625,-95.677068&amp;sspn=41.903538,59.853516&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;ll=32.306141,-106.755459&amp;spn=0.010954,0.014613&amp;t=h&amp;z=16&amp;iwloc=addr\" target=\"_blank\">1905 Nevada Ave.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?f=q&amp;hl=en&amp;geocode=&amp;q=1905+Nevada+Ave.,+las+cruces&amp;sll=37.0625,-95.677068&amp;sspn=41.903538,59.853516&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;ll=32.306141,-106.755459&amp;spn=0.010954,0.014613&amp;t=h&amp;z=16&amp;iwloc=addr\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"MsoNormal\">Update, 10:25 a.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Tinsley released this statement:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cVice President Cheney is right where he needs to be during this difficult financial time for our capital markets,\u201d he said. \u201cI know that he has meetings today with the president and other leaders to try to bring to the table a reasonable and acceptable plan to address the economic crisis we face together, as taxpayers and for our banking system. We are all at risk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA \u2018rescue plan\u2019 could be outlined, agreed upon in principal and established soon to move forward. We all agree that time is of the essence, but of paramount importance is the respect and protection of our American taxpayers,\u201d Tinsley said. \u201cThere will be a critical vote in the Senate, and the vice president, in his Constitutional role, could be called upon at anytime to cast a tie-breaking vote.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"MsoNormal\">Update, 2:55 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Tinsley spokesman Jim Pettit said this in response to the Democrats\u2019 <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Las Cruces<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> event:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cThe <a href=\"http:\/\/www.harryforcongress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Harry Teague<\/a> campaign (Teague is Tinsley\u2019s Democratic opponent) is using K-BOB\u2019S employees as a political prop while the country faces its biggest financial crisis since the Great Depression. We\u2019re glad that we can debate Harry Teague on the economy, and we\u2019d all be better served without political stunts that poke fun at hard-working people, thousands of whom have worked at K-BOB\u2019s since 1966. Oftentimes, these are people who are starting off in their first job, so it\u2019s not Ed Tinsley he\u2019s making fun of.
