{"id":3744,"date":"2008-09-22T16:36:00","date_gmt":"2008-09-22T22:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2008\/09\/another-poll-has-obama-and-udall-moving-ahead\/"},"modified":"2008-09-22T16:36:00","modified_gmt":"2008-09-22T22:36:00","slug":"another-poll-has-obama-and-udall-moving-ahead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2008\/09\/another-poll-has-obama-and-udall-moving-ahead\/","title":{"rendered":"Another poll has Obama and Udall moving ahead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SNgeMy95lZI\/AAAAAAAAIwk\/DtPzhnroXlU\/s1600-h\/Obama,+Barack.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SNgeMy95lZI\/AAAAAAAAIwk\/DtPzhnroXlU\/s200\/Obama,+Barack.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5248978570888975762\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>Another poll suggests growing leads in <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:state st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:state><\/st1:place> for Democratic presidential candidate <a href=\"http:\/\/www.barackobama.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Barack Obama<\/a> and U.S. Senate candidate <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tomudall.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tom Udall<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Obama leads Republican opponent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnmccain.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">John McCain<\/a> by 11 percentage points &#8212; 53 percent to 42 percent &#8212; and Udall leads Republican opponent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peopleforpearce.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Steve Pearce<\/a> by 20 points &#8212; 57 percent to 37 percent &#8212; among likely voters in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.publicpolicypolling.com\/pdf\/PPP_Release_NM_922.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Public Policy Polling survey<\/a> released today.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The survey of 1,037 likely voters was conducted Wednesday through Friday and has a margin of error of 3 percentage points. <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">One highlight of the poll was McCain\u2019s 2-point lead &#8212; 49 percent to 47 percent &#8212; among white voters, compared to Obama\u2019s 14-point lead &#8212; 59 percent to 35 percent &#8212; among Hispanics. <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SNgeIkTgyxI\/AAAAAAAAIwc\/sSmTl319J3Q\/s1600-h\/Udall,+Tom.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SNgeIkTgyxI\/AAAAAAAAIwc\/sSmTl319J3Q\/s200\/Udall,+Tom.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5248978498233617170\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>\u201c<st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> is probably the state <a href=\"http:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/president\" target=\"_blank\">Bush<\/a> took in 2004 that Barack Obama will have the easiest time winning this time around,\u201d Dean Debnam, president of Public Policy Polling, said in a news release. \u201cPart of this large lead may be a product of last week\u2019s economic crisis but, even if things return to normal, this is a place where the Democrats are going to have a significant advantage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">This is the second poll showing Udall\u2019s lead increasing after Pearce cut it to single digits in recent weeks. Last week, a <a href=\"http:\/\/haussamen.blogspot.com\/2008\/09\/udall-moves-further-ahead-in-new-senate.html\">SurveyUSA poll<\/a> had Udall ahead by 15 points.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">It\u2019s the third consecutive poll to suggest that Obama is moving ahead in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>.
