House redistricting map today that includes two fewer Republican-leaning districts than his previously-approved map the Supreme Court directed him to redo.<\/p>\n<p>The plan Hall approved today includes 32 Republican-leaning districts out of 70 total. The previous map Hall approved included 34. The map that was in place during the last decade had 32.<\/p>\n<p>You can view the map Hall approved today <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmlegis.gov\/Sessions\/11Redistricting\/199999\/HD_District_Court_1_Packet.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>. You can read the decision he issued <a href=\"http:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/Documents\/02.27.12.HallRedistrictingDecision.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, the state\u2019s high court\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2012\/02\/high-court-rejects-house-redistricting-plan-guv-to-appeal\/\" target=\"_blank\">rejected the plan Hall previously approved<\/a>\u00a0that was proposed by the governor. Republicans are\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2012\/02\/republicans-file-federal-redistricting-appeal\/\" target=\"_blank\">appealing the Supreme Court\u2019s decision<\/a>, and a panel of three federal judges is considering whether to intervene.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s unclear whether anyone will appeal the ruling Hall issued today back to the state Supreme Court. How Hall\u2019s decision will impact the federal appeal is also not immediately clear.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll post an analysis of the situation later tonight or early tomorrow, but I wanted to get the decision online now for you to see.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>District Judge James Hall approved a new N.M.
