David Lansford, the challenger to Clovis Mayor Gayla Brumfield<\/a> in the March 6 election, believes President Barack Obama is \u201cthe carnal manifestation of evil\u201d and not a natural-born U.S. citizen.<\/p>\n

The Clovis News Journal highlighted Lansford\u2019s views in a Sunday article<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cDavid Lansford doesn\u2019t believe his views on national politics are relevant to his quest to once again serve as mayor of Clovis.<\/p>\n

\u201cLansford said so in an interview Thursday, when asked about his participation with the ATLAH Media Network, including authoring two editorials that argue President Barack Obama isn\u2019t a natural U.S. citizen and his election was part of a CIA conspiracy.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

You can learn more about ATLAH here<\/a>. It\u2019s an arm of the ATLAH World Missionary Church pastored by James David Manning<\/a>, who was critical of Obama during the 2008 election. Among other things, Manning called Obama\u2019s mother \u201cwhite trash\u201d for becoming pregnant by a black man out of wedlock. Manning teaches that Harlem, in New York, is \u201cthe Land Anointed Holy\u201d and opposes its gentrification.<\/p>\n

Lansford served as Clovis mayor for three terms before opting against seeking a fourth<\/a> in 2008, which is when Brumfield was first elected. Here\u2019s more about Lansford from the Clovis News Journal:<\/p>\n

\u201cIn a June article, Lansford wrote that Obama \u2018is a fraud\u2019 and \u2018the carnal manifestation of evil.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cA November Lansford-authored article claims Obama\u2019s election and mainstream media are part of a CIA conspiracy.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018We are in the midst of a well designed plan,\u2019 Lansford wrote. \u2018The plan is to condition the public to accept, as normal, government oversight over everything we do.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018If you think Obama is not part of this plan, think clearly and for yourself,\u2019 the article notes. \u2018For starters, stop watching mainstream media puppets … all servants of International Banks, Corporations and Intelligence agencies, namely the CIA.\u2019<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The newspaper also highlighted Lansford\u2019s May trip to New York to \u201cparticipate as a juror in a mock trial of Obama sponsored by ATLAH.\u201d You can read more about that here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Lansford acknowledged to the newspaper that he\u2019s a \u201cbirther\u201d \u2013 meaning he doesn\u2019t believe Obama is a natural-born citizen who meets the qualifications to be president. Lansford was quoted as saying that claim is \u201call documented,\u201d and said, \u201cIf people will open their eyes and do the homework, they will see I\u2019m not a whack job.\u201d<\/p>\n
