Every sensible person would,\u201d Pearce says in the ad. \u201cHow did you vote, Tom?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Tom is Pearce\u2019s Democratic opponent, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tomudall.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tom Udall<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Pearce\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stevepearcemedia.com\/partialbirthabortion.html\" target=\"_blank\">Web site<\/a> highlights the fact that Udall has twice voted against bills that would have banned partial-birth abortion except when necessary to save the mother\u2019s life. But Udall spokeswoman Marissa Padilla pointed out to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.santafenewmexican.com\/SantaFeNorthernNM\/Pearce-ad-targets-Udall-on-partial-birth-abortion\" target=\"_blank\">The Santa Fe New Mexican<\/a> that Udall voted, in 2003, to amend that bill, as he had done previously, to allow an exemption when a doctor says an abortion is necessary for the life or health of the mother.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Those amendments failed in the House, and Pearce voted against them, Padilla told the newspaper, adding that Udall \u201cvoted to ban late-term abortion except to preserve the life and health of the woman.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The 2003 bill later became law.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican U.S. Senate candidate Steve Pearce\u2019s new ad highlights his opposition to partial-birth abortion.
