{"id":3721,"date":"2008-09-17T09:25:00","date_gmt":"2008-09-17T15:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2008\/09\/obama-talks-economy-in-tv-ad-rnc-on-radio-in-nm\/"},"modified":"2008-09-17T09:25:00","modified_gmt":"2008-09-17T15:25:00","slug":"obama-talks-economy-in-tv-ad-rnc-on-radio-in-nm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2008\/09\/obama-talks-economy-in-tv-ad-rnc-on-radio-in-nm\/","title":{"rendered":"Obama talks economy in TV ad; RNC on radio in NM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.barackobama.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Barack Obama<\/a> is out today with an unusually long television ad in which he talks about the nation\u2019s economic problems, while the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rnc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Republican National Committee<\/a> is airing new English and Spanish radio ads promoting <a href=\"http:\/\/www.johnmccain.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">John McCain<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Obama\u2019s two-minute TV ad begins with him saying the recent financial problems are nothing new for struggling Americans and ending with him saying that \u201cbitter, partisan fights and outworn ideas of the left and right won\u2019t solve the problems we face today, but a new spirit of unity and shared responsibility will.\u201d Here it is:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><object width=\"420\" height=\"340\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/ONM7148cTyc&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/ONM7148cTyc&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" width=\"420\" height=\"340\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The RNC\u2019s English radio ad, meanwhile, paints McCain as an agent of change because, \u201cin 20-plus years in the Senate, John McCain has never sought an earmark,\u201d while Obama, \u201cin three short years in the Senate,\u201d has \u201crequested nearly $1 billion in earmarks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Click <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Mo0b_tlZBPI\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> to listen to the ad.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The RNC\u2019s Spanish radio ad says McCain is a \u201cfriend\u201d because he \u201cworked with Republicans and Democrats alike to form immigration legislation\u201d last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cAnd while the bill didn\u2019t pass, only McCain demonstrated a real commitment to reforming immigration in a way that honored our laws as well as our immigrants and traditions,\u201d the ad\u2019s narrator states.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Obama, the ad claims, didn\u2019t support reform, instead supporting amendments \u201cdesigned to insert a deadly poison poll to kill the immigration legislation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Click <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=b70Esj-C83w\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> to listen to the ad.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Barack Obama is out today with an unusually long television ad in which he talks about the nation\u2019s economic problems, while the Republican National Committee is airing new English and Spanish radio ads promoting John McCain.
