With a municipal election a couple of weeks away, New Mexico State Police kicked everyone out of Sunland Park City Hall on Tuesday so they could \u201ccomb through city records,\u201d the Las Cruces Sun-News is reporting<\/a>.<\/p>\n The reason for the search wasn\u2019t disclosed. Whether it\u2019s related to the election isn\u2019t clear.<\/p>\n The investigators were armed with a search warrant and accompanied by a representative from the district attorney\u2019s office, the Sun-News reported.<\/p>\n City Councilor Carmen Rodriguez was quoted by the newspaper as saying investigators showed up around 4:30 p.m., \u201casked everyone to leave\u201d and \u201clocked the doors while they searched.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBasically, the city hall is in lockdown,\u201d the newspaper quoted the councilor as saying. Rodriguez also confirmed that election-related complaints had recently surfaced, but she didn\u2019t know if the raid was related to allegations surrounding the March 6 election.<\/p>\n
