{"id":3687,"date":"2008-09-08T15:09:00","date_gmt":"2008-09-08T21:09:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2008\/09\/new-udall-tv-ad-continues-fight-over-energy-policy\/"},"modified":"2008-09-08T15:09:00","modified_gmt":"2008-09-08T21:09:00","slug":"new-udall-tv-ad-continues-fight-over-energy-policy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2008\/09\/new-udall-tv-ad-continues-fight-over-energy-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"New Udall TV ad continues fight over energy policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Democratic U.S. Senate candidate <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tomudall.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tom Udall<\/a> is out with a new TV ad accusing Republican opponent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peopleforpearce.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Steve Pearce<\/a> of being in the pocket of the oil industry as the two continue to spar about energy policy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Here\u2019s the 30-second ad, which the Udall campaign unveiled today:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><object width=\"420\" height=\"340\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/0T_g0YS6Rus&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/0T_g0YS6Rus&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" width=\"420\" height=\"340\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cWhat part of \u2018Do it all\u2019 doesn\u2019t Steve Pearce understand?\u201d the ad\u2019s narrator asks, in an apparent reference to <a href=\"http:\/\/haussamen.blogspot.com\/2008\/09\/new-udall-ad-says-do-it-all-on-energy.html\">Udall\u2019s previous TV ad<\/a>. \u201cSteve Pearce voted to give Big Oil $14 billion while voting nine times against investing in alternative energy. Maybe that\u2019s why Steve Pearce got over $600,000 from Big Oil.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cTom Udall knows we have to do it all &#8212; drill offshore, nuclear power and get serious about alternative energy,\u201d the narrator states.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">After Udall unveiled the ad last week pushing his proposal to \u201cDo it all\u201d on energy, Pearce fired back in a news release by listing eight Udall votes in the House against increasing domestic drilling.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cTom Udall should follow his own advice about less talk and more action when it comes to domestic drilling,\u201d Pearce campaign manager John Billingsley said in the release. \u201cHe has had opportunities to act in Congress, but has opposed drilling every time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Udall campaign manager Amanda Cooper said in a news release sent today to announce the new ad that Pearce and his \u201cspecial-interest allies sound like a broken record for Big Oil, standing up for more of the same Bush policies that got our country into this predicament to begin with.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cThe choice is clear,\u201d Cooper said. \u201c\u2026 Under Tom Udall\u2019s energy plan, we can secure our energy future, end our dangerous addiction on foreign oil and create the jobs of the future by doing it all.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Tom Udall is out with a new TV ad accusing Republican opponent Steve Pearce of being in the pocket of the oil industry as the two continue to spar about energy policy.
