\"\"<\/a>Republican presidential nominee John McCain<\/a> introduced his running mate Sarah Palin<\/a> — who has become quite a celebrity — to New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> this weekend. <\/p>\n

The two arrived at Saturday\u2019s rally in Albuquerque<\/st1:city> by driving into the Albuquerque<\/st1:placename> Convention Center<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place> through a cloud of smoke while Van Halen\u2019s \u201cRight Now\u201d blared, according to the Albuquerque Journal<\/a>. The campaign that has spent months decrying Democratic opponent Barack Obama\u2019s<\/a> celebrity is milking Palin\u2019s for all it\u2019s worth.<\/p>\n

The two GOP candidates deviated little from their recent convention speeches during the short rally in Albuquerque<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>, which was attended by some 6,000 people. McCain and Palin also made a brief appearance<\/a> Sunday morning at El Pinto restaurant before leaving the state. Peter St.<\/st1:address><\/st1:street> Cyr, a radio reporter for 770 KKOB in Albuquerque, got a 32-second interview<\/a> with Palin during the Sunday stop — a rarity others, including me, have sought in vain.<\/p>\n
