Boone Pickens<\/a> will try to sell his plan to reduce the nation\u2019s dependence on foreign oil to an <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Albuquerque<\/st1:city><\/st1:place> crowd next week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Pickens is holding a town-hall meeting on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the ballroom at the <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Albuquerque<\/st1:placename>  <st1:placetype st=\"on\">Convention Center<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.albuquerquecc.com\/parking\/directions.php\" target=\"_blank\">401 2nd Street NW<\/a>. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. for the event, which is open to the public.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Tickets aren\u2019t required, but seating is limited. Organizers ask that people planning to attend RSVP to <a href=\"mailto:aliesharuiz@yahoo.com\">aliesharuiz@yahoo.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Pickens, according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.haussamen.com\/PickensFlyer.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">a flyer<\/a> advertising the event, \u201cwill discuss his plan and take questions from the audience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Pickens has unveiled a $58 million media campaign to promote the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pickensplan.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pickens Plan<\/a> to replace the energy in <st1:country-region st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">America<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>\u2019s power grid that comes from domestic natural gas with wind power so the natural gas can be instead used in automobiles. That, he says, will cut the nation\u2019s dependence on foreign oil by more than a third.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">In addition to the money he\u2019s spending on the media campaign, Pickens is backing up his words with plans to build the largest wind farm in the world in <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:state st=\"on\">Texas<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>. He claims the massive shift that could cut our spending on foreign oil from $700 million to $400 million each year could happen in less than a decade if all sides work together.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Texas oilman T.
