Bill Richardson, who served as United Nations ambassador and energy secretary under President Clinton, \u201cwent with flowers and chocolates, and he went with light-water nuclear reactors\u2026 and a basketball signed by Michael Jordan and many other inducements for the \u2018dear leader\u2019 to try to agree not to develop nuclear weapons, and it failed,\u201d White House spokesman Tony Snow said today, according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2006\/07\/10\/AR2006071001214.html\" target=\"_blank\">Washington Post<\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019ve learned from that mistake.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Bush has increasingly expressed frustration in recent days with diplomacy after <st1:country-region st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">North   Korea<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> test fired several missiles last week. For a time, it was Bush who was calling for cooperation with other nations, a rare event indeed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/5892\/2386\/1600\/Richardson%2C%20Bill.35.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/5892\/2386\/200\/Richardson%2C%20Bill.31.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>But <st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city> knows how to get on national television and has appeared in the past several days saying that the North simply needs more attention, including promises of aid similar to those being offered to <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:country-region st=\"on\">Iran<\/st1:country-region><\/st1:place>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">A couple of years ago, a North Korean delegation came to <st1:city st=\"on\">Santa Fe<\/st1:city> to talk with <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city><\/st1:place>, an obvious sign of disrespect toward Bush.
