Sanchez says he may run for governor in 2010"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SJ_PLK3ALxI\/AAAAAAAAGaM\/den0smh3rRE\/s1600-h\/Sanchez,+Michael.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SJ_PLK3ALxI\/AAAAAAAAGaM\/den0smh3rRE\/s200\/Sanchez,+Michael.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5233129082828369682\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>Senate Majority Leader <a href=\"http:\/\/legis.state.nm.us\/LCS\/legdetails.asp?Name=286\" target=\"_blank\">Michael Sanchez<\/a> says he\u2019s considering running for governor in 2010, according to an article in the <a href=\"http:\/\/newmexicoindependent.com\/view\/sanchez-considering\" target=\"_blank\">New Mexico Independent<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The Friday announcement that the Democratic senator from Belen is thinking about the state\u2019s top job came more than two years before the election and a week before the Legislature convenes in special session to consider health-care reform, tax relief and road funding proposals made by Gov. <a href=\"http:\/\/governor.state.nm.us\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bill Richardson<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Sanchez and other Senate leaders have been at odds with the governor for some time. It\u2019s also no secret that Richardson and Lt. Gov. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ltgovernor.state.nm.us\/\" target=\"_blank\">Diane Denish<\/a>, who is running for governor in 2010, aren\u2019t the best of friends.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cAt this point, I\u2019ve been approached and asked to consider it and I\u2019m considering it,\u201d the Independent quoted Sanchez as saying, but the article didn\u2019t state who asked Sanchez to consider running.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Denish responded in an interview with the Independent by saying it is \u201ctoo early to be commenting on the 2010 race.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cRight now, what I\u2019m focused on is how are we going to help New Mexico survive this Republican economy, what are we going to do in the special session to help New Mexico families,\u201d Denish said. \u201c\u2026 I\u2019m not going to comment on Michael Sanchez or anybody. I just think it\u2019s too early for that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Sanchez also wouldn\u2019t speculate about running against Denish in the Democratic primary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI wouldn\u2019t be considering it unless I thought I could do a good job,\u201d the Independent quoted him as saying. \u201cI think I would make a good governor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Sanchez has been a state senator since 1993.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Senate Majority Leader Michael Sanchez says he\u2019s considering running for governor in 2010, according to an article in the New Mexico Independent.
