Gov. <a href=\"http:\/\/governor.state.nm.us\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bill Richardson<\/a> to be his running mate.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/headlines\/ci_10061391\" target=\"_blank\">a Friday editorial<\/a>, the Post wrote that it hopes when Obama accepts his party\u2019s nomination for president in <st1:city st=\"on\">Denver<\/st1:city> later this month that \u201che will have a son of the West\u201d &#8212; <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> &#8212; by his side.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cWe think there\u2019s only one direction to go,\u201d the Post editorial states. \u201cThe first test of a vice president is whether he or she is qualified to serve in the top job should the occasion arise. <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> clearly leads all other Democratic contenders by that standard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/bp2.blogger.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SJc8GO_tKoI\/AAAAAAAAGWs\/K7ujOvfLVko\/s1600-h\/Obama,+Barack.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/bp2.blogger.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SJc8GO_tKoI\/AAAAAAAAGWs\/K7ujOvfLVko\/s200\/Obama,+Barack.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5230715570016299650\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>\u201cHis outstanding record makes him an ideal partner for Obama, not only on the campaign trail but at the vital job of shaping America\u2019s future,\u201d the editorial states, citing Richardson\u2019s experience as a congressman, ambassador to the United Nations, energy secretary and governor of New Mexico.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201c<st1:state st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:state> is a strong state economically, thanks to <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>\u2019s strong leadership,\u201d the editorial states. \u201cAs a native of the West, he would lend a strong voice in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Washington<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> to the issues and concerns that affect this region &#8212; issues that are often overlooked in Beltway politics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201c<st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>\u2019s record not only qualifies him to assume the presidency, it makes him an ideal partner to the visionary and eloquent Obama in the task of running this country,\u201d the editorial states. \u201cAnd as a leading figure in a Rocky Mountain West that has emerged as a swing political region, <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> could do more than any other possible running mate to carry the Democratic ticket to victory in November.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Denver Post says Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama should pick N.M.
