The argument now is over whether the debate will count as one of the three statewide, televised debates in which the candidates have already agreed to participate before Nov. 4.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cThe Udall campaign has accepted with Meet the Press and we\u2019re pleased to have this be one of our three statewide televised debates,\u201d Udall campaign spokeswoman Marissa Padilla said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/bp3.blogger.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SJcfh6zborI\/AAAAAAAAGWU\/v0exjhiZfc8\/s1600-h\/Udall,+Tom.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/bp3.blogger.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SJcfh6zborI\/AAAAAAAAGWU\/v0exjhiZfc8\/s200\/Udall,+Tom.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5230684159795241650\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>\u201cMeet the Press is the standard bearer for Sunday morning political programming and I know I speak for Steve when I say that we are honored by the invitation,\u201d Pearce campaign manager John Billingsley said in agreeing to the debate. \u201c\u2026 The Meet the Press debate should be an additional debate beyond the three we have agreed to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The debate is one of several in a series Meet the Press plans as it features hot Senate contests. <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>\u2019s race to replace the retiring <a href=\"http:\/\/domenici.senate.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pete Domenici<\/a> is one of the top Senate races in the nation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cWe appreciate that Meet the Press also recognizes the importance this race has for our state and the country and we look forward to this historic opportunity,\u201d Billingsley said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New Mexico\u2019s candidates for U.S. Senate, Democrat Tom Udall and Republican Steve Pearce, will participate in a nationally televised debate before the November election on NBC\u2019s Meet the Press.
