{"id":3508,"date":"2008-07-29T16:16:00","date_gmt":"2008-07-29T22:16:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2008\/07\/jimenez-out-condit-named-guvs-new-chief-of-staff\/"},"modified":"2008-07-29T16:16:00","modified_gmt":"2008-07-29T22:16:00","slug":"jimenez-out-condit-named-guvs-new-chief-of-staff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2008\/07\/jimenez-out-condit-named-guvs-new-chief-of-staff\/","title":{"rendered":"Jimenez out; Condit named guv&#8217;s new chief of staff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/bp3.blogger.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SI-W6R-hJ2I\/AAAAAAAAGUM\/PN3x3RaFLUg\/s1600-h\/Richardson,+Bill.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/bp3.blogger.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SI-W6R-hJ2I\/AAAAAAAAGUM\/PN3x3RaFLUg\/s200\/Richardson,+Bill.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5228563620402636642\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>Gov. <a href=\"http:\/\/governor.state.nm.us\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bill Richardson\u2019s<\/a> chief of staff, James Jimenez, is leaving to take another job and will be replaced by the governor\u2019s deputy chief of staff, Brian Condit.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">A news release from the governor\u2019s office said of Jimenez\u2019s departure only that he is leaving at the end of August to take another job. <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> spokesman Gilbert Gallegos said Jimenez will announce his plans next week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Two Rio Rancho news sources &#8212; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.observer-online.com\/articles\/2008\/07\/24\/news\/doc488614eecfbfe158297307.txt\" target=\"_blank\">The Observer<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.the-score.info\/080722.Payne.html\" target=\"_blank\">The Sandoval County Online Reporting Enterprise<\/a> &#8212; are reporting that Jimenez is the leading candidate for the open city manager job in the state\u2019s third largest city. Gallegos said Jimenez is not available for comment today because he is \u201ctied up all day with negotiations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Jimenez served as governor\u2019s secretary of the Department of Finance &amp; Administration from 2003 to 2006, when he was appointed as the governor\u2019s chief of staff. Before that, Jimenez worked in Rio Rancho for eight years as the finance director and later as the city administrator.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cJames has been a loyal and steady hand &#8212; both as finance secretary and as my chief of staff &#8212; who helped guide my administration through the most productive years in <st1:state st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:state>\u2019s history,\u201d <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> said in a news release. \u201cI wish James luck.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Condit, a former union president, has been <st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city>\u2019s deputy chief of staff since 2004 and has worked in the administration since <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> took office. Condit has directed the governor\u2019s legislative agenda, overseen policy initiatives and served as the point-person on labor-relations issues.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cBrian has traveled the state with me, worked with legislators and constituents and has successfully managed the state bureaucracy,\u201d <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> said. \u201cI am counting on Brian to help me continue to move forward with my ambitious agenda of increasing access to quality health care, create new jobs and put money in people\u2019s pockets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p style=\"font-style: italic;\" class=\"MsoNormal\">A prior version of this posting incorrectly stated that Condit had been <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>\u2019s chief of staff, not deputy chief of staff, since 2004.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gov.
