Bill Richardson (Photo by Heath Haussamen)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Former Gov. <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bill_Richardson\" target=\"_blank\">Bill Richardson<\/a> and his wife have purchased a home in the Cape Cod area in Massachusetts for $1.67 million.<\/p>\n<p>From the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.capecodonline.com\/apps\/pbcs.dll\/article?AID=\/20111210\/NEWS\/112100326\/-1\/NEWS01\" target=\"_blank\">Cape Cod Times<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cFormer New Mexico Gov. William \u2018Bill\u2019 Richardson and his wife, Barbara Flavin Richardson, paid $1.67 million for a house on Fox Pond and <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?q=strong+island+road,+Cape+Cod,+MA&amp;hl=en&amp;ll=41.716621,-69.969349&amp;spn=0.008978,0.012392&amp;sll=41.679413,-70.210334&amp;sspn=1.14978,1.586151&amp;vpsrc=6&amp;hnear=Strong+Island+Rd,+Chatham,+Barnstable,+Massachusetts+02633&amp;t=h&amp;z=17\" target=\"_blank\">Strong Island Road<\/a>, according to the deed recorded on Sept. 15.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe couple secured a $675,000 mortgage from the Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank and purchased the 2,278-square-foot house from Gerald and Stephanie Coughlan of Wellesley. The Coughlans paid $1.6 million for the property on Nickerson Neck in 2004.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost of the property\u2019s value \u2014 $1.5 million \u2014 is in the 36,200-square-foot pond-front lot, according to Chatham assessing records. The assessed value of the three-bedroom house with 4.5 bathrooms was $297,900.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018Gov. and Mrs. Richardson will use this home as a vacation home,\u2019 Richardson spokesman Caitlin Wakefield emailed Friday. \u2018Their primary residence will continue to be Santa Fe, N.M.
