{"id":3417,"date":"2008-07-02T08:28:00","date_gmt":"2008-07-02T14:28:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2008\/07\/state-gop-director-out-more-changes-coming\/"},"modified":"2008-07-02T08:28:00","modified_gmt":"2008-07-02T14:28:00","slug":"state-gop-director-out-more-changes-coming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2008\/07\/state-gop-director-out-more-changes-coming\/","title":{"rendered":"State GOP director out; more changes coming"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/bp3.blogger.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SGuQx_RzhmI\/AAAAAAAAGGo\/-enLJHzHwBQ\/s1600-h\/GOP.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/bp3.blogger.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SGuQx_RzhmI\/AAAAAAAAGGo\/-enLJHzHwBQ\/s200\/GOP.JPG\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5218423781712954978\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>Adam Feldman is out as executive director of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gopnm.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Republican Party of New Mexico<\/a> after less than a year on the job.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Feldman left the job last week but remains \u201cheavily involved in the field with our Republican candidates in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>,\u201d said Scott Darnell, the party\u2019s communications director and now the interim executive director.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cHe\u2019s an expert at turning out the vote and at running campaigns, so he\u2019ll be an incredibly important part of the statewide Republican effort this year,\u201d Darnell said of Feldman. \u201cHis talents are geared toward that work, and as we enter into the crux of this campaign season\u2026 the (party\u2019s) staff is simply undergoing some realignment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Darnell didn\u2019t say whether Feldman quit or was fired. Feldman could not be reached for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The GOP\u2019s reshuffling isn\u2019t done yet: Darnell is leaving his job in five weeks to begin work on a master\u2019s degree in public policy from <st1:placename st=\"on\">Harvard<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">University<\/st1:placetype> in <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Boston<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>. After Darnell leaves, he said, \u201csomeone with great abilities will continue in the role throughout the remainder of the election.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The decision on who to hire will be left to state Chairman <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gopnm.com\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=392:allen-e-weh-biography&amp;catid=47:state-party-officers-and-staff&amp;Itemid=58\" target=\"_blank\">Allen Weh<\/a>, and it\u2019s an important one: <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New   Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> is a swing state in the presidential race. The GOP is also charged with defending three seats in Congress without incumbents in November, and every state legislative seat is up for grabs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Darnell said he is confident that the changes won\u2019t hurt the GOP\u2019s ability to compete.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cOur communications efforts will continue to be strong, our fundraising remains as strong as ever and will only improve, and our political operations are very aggressive and well-covered,\u201d Darnell said. \u201cWe have a situation now where all of our Republican candidates, at all levels, are receiving the support necessary to win. The GOP in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> is well-positioned going into this election.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Feldman began working as the GOP director in August. During his more than 10 years working in Republican politics, he has worked on three U.S. Senate campaigns and served as President Bush\u2019s <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">West Virginia<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> grassroots and volunteer coordinator in 2004.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Adam Feldman is out as executive director of the Republican Party of New Mexico after less than a year on the job.
