Republicans to gather Saturday in Las Cruces"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SFCtnLTn_lI\/AAAAAAAAGBI\/K9ss_x0sxhQ\/s1600-h\/GOP.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SFCtnLTn_lI\/AAAAAAAAGBI\/K9ss_x0sxhQ\/s200\/GOP.JPG\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5210855657429270098\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>New Mexico Republicans will elect a new national committeeman, confirm the five who get the state GOP\u2019s electoral votes and hear from candidates for federal office at a meeting on Saturday in <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Las Cruces<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The 2008 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gopnm.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Republican Party of New Mexico<\/a> Quadrennial Convention will begin at 10 a.m. at the performing arts center at <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?f=q&amp;hl=en&amp;geocode=&amp;q=onate+high+school,+las+cruces&amp;sll=37.0625,-95.677068&amp;sspn=75.262607,113.90625&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;z=16&amp;iwloc=A\" target=\"_blank\">O\u00f1ate High School<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The most interesting vote of state central committee members who attend Saturday\u2019s meeting will be on who will replace George Buffett as the national committeeman for <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> &#8212; a representative who has a voice in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rnc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Republican National Committee<\/a>. <st1:city st=\"on\">Albuquerque<\/st1:city> attorney Pat Rogers had previously announced his candidacy, but two late entrants &#8212; <st1:city st=\"on\">Albuquerque<\/st1:city> small businessman Anthony Contri and <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Albuquerque<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> car dealer Don Chalmers &#8212; jumped into the race this week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">It\u2019s too late for their names to appear on Saturday\u2019s ballot, but they\u2019re still welcome to compete, said Allen Weh, chairman of the state GOP.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cIt never helps your cause to be late,\u201d Weh said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The Republican candidates for U.S. Senate and House from <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> will be present and allowed to speak, Weh said.
