In the Republican 3rd Congressional District race he backed <a href=\"http:\/\/marcogonzalesforcongress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Marco Gonzales<\/a>, who lost by six points. He also backed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heatherforsenate.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Heather Wilson<\/a> in the GOP U.S. Senate primary. Though her opponent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peopleforpearce.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Steve Pearce<\/a> hasn\u2019t declared victory, the Associated Press has declared him the winner. He\u2019s currently leading by about 2,900 votes with 99 percent of precincts reporting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SEZZAMgUc0I\/AAAAAAAAF-o\/4MZWxud1fKU\/s1600-h\/Domenici,+Pete.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SEZZAMgUc0I\/AAAAAAAAF-o\/4MZWxud1fKU\/s200\/Domenici,+Pete.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5207947878992212802\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>Certainly <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city><\/st1:place> backed some other candidates who ended up winning, including two congressional hopefuls and several incumbent lawmakers. But I wonder if, in this year of change, endorsements from establishment politicians mean less than they might in other years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">I wonder also whether the Internet, which has changed the way political campaigns organize and operate, has allowed a new level of involvement that empowers people to make their own decisions and lets them rely less on the opinions of politicians.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Or maybe I\u2019m making a big deal out of nothing.
