{"id":3342,"date":"2008-06-03T21:14:00","date_gmt":"2008-06-04T03:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2008\/06\/teague-declares-victory-mccamley-says-its-too-early\/"},"modified":"2008-06-03T21:14:00","modified_gmt":"2008-06-04T03:14:00","slug":"teague-declares-victory-mccamley-says-its-too-early","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2008\/06\/teague-declares-victory-mccamley-says-its-too-early\/","title":{"rendered":"Teague declares victory; McCamley says it&#8217;s too early"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SEYIwOPtv7I\/AAAAAAAAF9Q\/aGNALmtSiCo\/s1600-h\/Teague,+Harry.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SEYIwOPtv7I\/AAAAAAAAF9Q\/aGNALmtSiCo\/s200\/Teague,+Harry.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5207859643651309490\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.harryteagueforcongress08.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Harry Teague<\/a> is declaring victory in the Democratic 2nd Congressional District primary, but the campaign of his opponent, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billmccamley.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bill McCamley<\/a>, says it\u2019s too early to call the race.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Teague declared victory moments ago in an interview with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kanw.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">KANW-AM<\/a> in <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Albuquerque<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI had so much support from so many people,\u201d Teague said in thanking those who helped him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">He also said he believes the general election will \u201cbe a very close race.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Teague has won a number of counties across the district, but McCamley is easily winning his home <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placetype st=\"on\">county<\/st1:placetype>  of <st1:placename st=\"on\">Do\u00f1a Ana<\/st1:placename><\/st1:place> with more than half of precincts there yet to report results. According to the Secretary of State\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/67.192.207.121\/county0.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Web site<\/a>, Teague is winning 64-36 percent, but it\u2019s not clear what percentage of the vote has been counted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cUntil we get more in from <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Do\u00f1a<\/st1:placename> <st1:placename st=\"on\">Ana<\/st1:placename> <st1:placename st=\"on\">County<\/st1:placename><\/st1:place>, we\u2019re still in this thing,\u201d McCamley spokesman Michael Ward said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"MsoNormal\">Update, 9:25 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The Associated Press, according to the Albuquerque Journal\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqjournal.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Web site<\/a>, has Teague leading 52 percent to 48 percent. Its numbers are historically more up-to-date than the Secretary of State\u2019s on election night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-style: italic;\" class=\"MsoNormal\">As I\u2019ve disclosed in the past, I\u2019m friends with McCamley.
