The poll was conducted by Research and Polling Inc. for the Journal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cPearce\u2019s message of being the consistent conservative appears to have worked,\u201d the company\u2019s president, Brian Sanderoff, was quoted in the Journal as saying.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SEOtwLu3rsI\/AAAAAAAAF8A\/W3PlWwpy0Tc\/s1600-h\/Wilson,+Heather.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SEOtwLu3rsI\/AAAAAAAAF8A\/W3PlWwpy0Tc\/s200\/Wilson,+Heather.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5207196637465128642\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>But the race isn\u2019t over. <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Wilson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> has a history of finishing stronger than predicted by pundits or indicated by polls. And the new poll was conducted just before U.S. Sen. <a href=\"http:\/\/domenici.senate.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pete Domenici<\/a> endorsed <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Wilson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> in the primary on Friday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">It\u2019s not clear that Domenici\u2019s late endorsement can make a significant difference, but that isn\u2019t stopping Domenici and the <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Wilson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> campaign from trying. In a weekend robocall to Republicans around the state, which you can hear by clicking <a href=\"http:\/\/media.switchpod.com\/users\/peter_stcyr\/HWFSEndorsementSenPeteDomenici053108.mp3\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>, Domenici urged voters to pick <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Wilson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Pearce\u2019s only comment on Domenici\u2019s endorsement was this:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI respect Senator Domenici and look forward to working with him in the future,\u201d Pearce said in a statement released by his campaign. \u201cOur campaign is in good shape and we are confident of victory on Tuesday.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An Albuquerque Journal poll of the Republican U.S. Senate primary race released Sunday has Steve Pearce with a six-point lead heading into Tuesday\u2019s election.
