Luj\u00e1n<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/donfornewmexico.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Don Wiviott<\/a> are sparring again, this time over who\u2019s going to release information about his past to the public, and who\u2019s going to do it first.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The spat began when Wiviott sent out a news release calling on Luj\u00e1n to release his college transcript and diploma \u201cto ensure he graduated from <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">Highlands<\/st1:placetype> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">University<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">In a previous article in the Albuquerque Journal, Luj\u00e1n\u2019s campaign had refused the request, calling it \u201cirrelevant and a distraction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SD7m4sjg8pI\/AAAAAAAAF4w\/DKdAO0E-F4E\/s1600-h\/Lujan,+Ben+R.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SD7m4sjg8pI\/AAAAAAAAF4w\/DKdAO0E-F4E\/s200\/Lujan,+Ben+R.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5205852080994054802\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>\u201cIf Ben Ray Luj\u00e1n has nothing to hide about his college degree, then he should release his transcripts and diploma and come clean with the voters of the 3rd Congressional District,\u201d Wiviott campaign Spokesman Webster Cash said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Luj\u00e1n\u2019s campaign spokesman Mark Nicastre fired back that Luj\u00e1n would be happy to \u201csend Don Wiviott an autographed photo, suitable for framing, of Commissioner Luj\u00e1n holding his college diploma\u201d \u2013 but only after Wiviott released his tax returns, as the Luj\u00e1n campaign said he previously promised.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cIn the meantime, Don Wiviott or any other interested parties can contact <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:placename>  <st1:placetype st=\"on\">Highlands<\/st1:placetype> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">University<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place>, who will confirm that Commissioner Luj\u00e1n earned his degree,\u201d Nicastre said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Nicastre didn\u2019t respond when I asked whether Luj\u00e1n would also release his transcript.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The Luj\u00e1n news release referred to a Santa Fe New Mexican article in which Wiviott said he would release his tax returns.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cGiven his record of unethical business practices, price-fixing and misleading advertisements, we understand why Don Wiviott would like to hide his full tax returns,\u201d Nicastre said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Wiviott spokesman Cash fired back again:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cPlain and simple, we asked the Luj\u00e1n campaign to release their candidate\u2019s transcript and they completely dodged the request. If they have nothing to hide, then they should stop diverting attention away from the matter at hand and make Ben Ray Luj\u00e1n\u2019s transcript available,\u201d he said. \u201cOnce the Luj\u00e1n campaign complies with our original request and makes his transcript and diploma public, we would be glad to release all pertinent tax information. While we certainly have nothing to hide, it\u2019s obvious the<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Luj\u00e1n campaign can\u2019t say the same.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">I\u2019m in <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Las Cruces<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>, so I haven\u2019t been inundated with the television ads and much of the other negative back-and-forth between these two candidates, and I\u2019m still sick of it. Both should release their information \u2013 Luj\u00e1n his transcript and diploma and Wiviott his tax returns \u2013 and while they\u2019re at it, Wiviott should release his transcript and diploma and Luj\u00e1n should release his tax returns.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Unfortunately, at this late date, it appears likely that both have dodged having to release that information before the primary. I wonder why they didn\u2019t want to do it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Wiviott is also taking fire for dodging debates, which you can read about by clicking <a href=\"http:\/\/www.santafenewmexican.com\/SantaFeNorthernNM\/Campaign-Trail-Mix--5-29-08\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.
