Supreme Court Chief Justice Charles W. Daniels<\/p><\/div>\n<p>NMPolitics.net incorrectly reported earlier today that the N.M. Supreme Court had rejected a motion to recuse Chief Justice <a href=\"http:\/\/nmsupremecourt.nmcourts.gov\/bios\/daniels.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Charles W. Daniels<\/a>\u00a0from any matters related to the bribery case against Third Judicial District Judge Mike Murphy.<\/p>\n<p>NMPolitics.net was quoting the Las Cruces Sun-News, which <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lcsun-news.com\/ci_19112632\" target=\"_blank\">reported earlier today<\/a> that the court had denied prosecutor Matt Chandler\u2019s motion to recuse Daniels.<\/p>\n<p>NMPolitics.net has confirmed that the Sun-News report is incorrect. The motion seeking Daniels\u2019 recusal is still pending. As a result, the incorrect article no longer appears on NMPolitics.net, which apologizes for the error. NMPolitics.net has also removed mentions of the inaccurate article from its Facebook and Twitter pages.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court has taken action on the other request Chandler made Wednesday. The court has denied <a href=\"http:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/Documents\/WritOnMurphyDismissal.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">a motion<\/a> from Chandler seeking reinstatement of a misdemeanor charge against Murphy. Three justices ruled in favor of the order denying Chandler\u2019s motion, while Justice Petra Maes, who is listed as a witness in the Murphy case, recused herself.<\/p>\n<p>Daniels is listed on that order as not participating in the decision. That\u2019s not the same as recusing himself.<\/p>\n<p>Chandler filed the request to reinstate the misdemeanor charge and the request to have Daniels recused from any decisions related to the Murphy case <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2011\/10\/da-wants-daniels-to-stay-away-from-murphy-case\/\" target=\"_blank\">together on Wednesday<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NMPolitics.net incorrectly reported earlier today that the N.M.
