Diane Denish is seriously considering running against Sen. Pete Domenici, R-N.M., in 2008.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">A source who would know about such things told me Wednesday that Gov. Bill Richardson, incensed because he believes the senator was involved in the Damron\/Dendahl swicheroo, met with Denish last week to ask her to consider running against Domenici.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cIt\u2019s something she will definitely consider,\u201d the source told me.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Political blogger <a href=\"http:\/\/joemonahansnewmexico.blogspot.com\/2006_06_01_joemonahansnewmexico_archive.html#115112800522264403\" target=\"_blank\">Joe Monahan<\/a> reported earlier this week that <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city><\/st1:place> is seeking a Democrat to take on Domenici in 2008. Richardson and Domenici had a long-standing truce, until the gubernatorial switcheroo earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/5892\/2386\/1600\/Domenici%2C%20Pete.2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/photos1.blogger.com\/blogger\/5892\/2386\/200\/Domenici%2C%20Pete.1.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>Domenici called <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> last week to tell him he wasn\u2019t involved in J.R. Damron dropping out of the gubernatorial race or the Republican Party\u2019s decision to replace him with fireball John Dendahl, the source told me. <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> doesn\u2019t believe him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cThe governor has always stayed out of Senator Domenici\u2019s races in the past, but he just sees too many signals of Domenici involvement, or at least Steve Bell\u2019s involvement,\u201d the source said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Bell<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> is Domenici\u2019s chief political operative.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Dendahl has said <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Bell<\/st1:city><\/st1:place> was involved in the switch, and most doubt the party would make such a bold move without the blessing of Domenici, the party\u2019s daddy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Many speculate that the switch isn\u2019t about winning the governor\u2019s race, but is about smearing <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> to kill his potential 2008 presidential bid. Dendahl is controversial for his brutal political assaults.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Domenici, 74, recently announced he\u2019ll see a seventh, six-year term in 2008.
