{"id":32652,"date":"2011-10-10T11:18:02","date_gmt":"2011-10-10T17:18:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/?p=32652"},"modified":"2011-10-10T11:25:03","modified_gmt":"2011-10-10T17:25:03","slug":"prc%e2%80%99s-hall-being-sued-allegedly-didn%e2%80%99t-repay-54k-loan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2011\/10\/prc%e2%80%99s-hall-being-sued-allegedly-didn%e2%80%99t-repay-54k-loan\/","title":{"rendered":"PRC\u2019s Hall being sued, allegedly didn\u2019t repay $54K loan"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_32653\"  class=\"wp-caption module image alignright\" style=\"max-width: 120px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-32653\" title=\"Hall, Ben\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Hall-Ben.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"120\" height=\"160\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ben Hall<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The former son-in-law of District 5 Public Regulation Commissioner <a href=\"http:\/\/nmprc.state.nm.us\/commissioners\/benhall\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Ben Hall<\/a> has sued Hall for almost $54,000, alleging that Hall never repaid a loan from 1998.<\/p>\n<p>The Ruidoso News <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ruidosonews.com\/ci_19038546\" target=\"_blank\">detailed Hall\u2019s latest problems<\/a> last week. A judge declared a mistrial in the case because a witness was \u201ccaught peeking into the courtroom,\u201d the newspaper reported.<\/p>\n<p>From the newspaper:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cMarshall Peebles, Hall\u2019s former son-in-law, is suing Hall for $53,916.83, alleging that he loaned Hall the money in 1998 and Hall never repaid him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe lawsuit claims the loan was due to be repaid in 2003. Marshall Peebles filed the lawsuit against Hall in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the time of the loan, Peebles was married to Hall\u2019s daughter Julie. Julie Hall Peebles sued Marshall Peebles for divorce in April 2005. The divorce was granted in November 2009 but Julie Hall Peebles requested the divorce settlement be reopened last month, claiming that the money Ben Hall owes Marshall Peebles was not divided in the divorce and should be divided equally between the parties. Julie Hall Peebles was one of the witnesses waiting outside the courtroom to testify on behalf of Ben Hall.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A new trial date hasn\u2019t been set.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2011\/08\/the-prc-needs-more-public-scrutiny-not-less\/\" target=\"_blank\">I\u2019ve written before<\/a>, Hall has had lots of money problems. A news release from his Democratic opponent in last year\u2019s election, Bill McCamley (which was posted by someone else\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2010\/09\/mccamley-says-choice-is-a-reformer-or-more-of-the-same\/comment-page-1\/#comment-13808\" target=\"_blank\">in a comment on this site<\/a>), highlighted those issues:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201c \u2022 From 1983-1998 there were 14 tax liens placed on Mr. Hall and his construction company totaling $356,233.89.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c \u2022 10 of these liens were for failure to pay Federal taxes, and 4 liens were for failure to pay State taxes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c \u2026 \u2022 From 1983-1998, there were 7 liens placed on Mr. Hall by individuals, subcontractors, and the Ruidoso State Bank totaling $112,681.59 for failure to pay for completed contracted services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c \u2022 Mr. Hall was sued multiple times from 1987-2009, including once for \u2018Unpaid Labor,\u2019 twice for \u2018Breech of Contract\u2019 and three times for \u2018Debt and Money Due.\u2019\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As McCamley pointed out, judgments came down against Hall in at least two cases, and he had to pay money to plaintiffs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The former son-in-law of District 5 Public Regulation Commissioner Ben Hall has sued Hall for almost $54,000, alleging that Hall never repaid a loan from 1998.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[11],"tags":[217,107],"class_list":["post-32652","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news-and-analysis","tag-prc","tag-roundhouse"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/32652","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=32652"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/32652\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=32652"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=32652"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=32652"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
