Earl Greer<\/a> and Democrat <a href=\"http:\/\/www.billmccamley.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bill McCamley<\/a> in the 2nd Congressional District race on Sunday, while the Albuquerque Journal endorsed Republican <a href=\"http:\/\/www.edtinsleyforcongress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ed Tinsley<\/a> and Democrat <a href=\"http:\/\/www.harryteagueforcongress08.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Harry Teague<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The Sun-News, in its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lcsun-news.com\/opinion\/ci_9286427\" target=\"_blank\">endorsement of Greer<\/a>, said his \u201cbackground and commonsense approach puts him a shade ahead\u201d of the other candidates.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cGreer\u2019s sense of the district is solid. He\u2019s a fifth-generation New Mexican who knows agriculture as well as business,\u201d the endorsement states. \u201cAnd in a district that\u2019s almost half Hispanic, it\u2019s worth noting Greer is a Spanish speaker, and half Hispanic himself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SDETyIyZuoI\/AAAAAAAAFwU\/g5N2oa8iSwI\/s1600-h\/McCamley,+Bill.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SDETyIyZuoI\/AAAAAAAAFwU\/g5N2oa8iSwI\/s200\/McCamley,+Bill.JPG\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5201960796662905474\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>In its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lcsun-news.com\/opinion\/ci_9286426\" target=\"_blank\">endorsement of<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lcsun-news.com\/opinion\/ci_9286426\" target=\"_blank\"> McCamley<\/a>, the newspaper said that, though it hasn\u2019t agreed with all McCamley has done, the members of its editorial board have been impressed with his work as a <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Do\u00f1a<\/st1:placename>  <st1:placename st=\"on\">Ana<\/st1:placename> <st1:placename st=\"on\">County<\/st1:placename><\/st1:place> commissioner and his ability to bring disparate groups together. The endorsement said he knows the district well.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cMcCamley is forward-thinking with energy (work on renewables and now, emphasizing them the way Kennedy did with getting us to the moon) and the economy (we\u2019ve got to find ways to export our goods and services, including <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>\u2019s alternative energy),\u201d the endorsement states.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SDETyoyZuqI\/AAAAAAAAFwk\/V_et2U9xgH4\/s1600-h\/Tinsley,+Ed.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SDETyoyZuqI\/AAAAAAAAFwk\/V_et2U9xgH4\/s200\/Tinsley,+Ed.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5201960805252840098\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>Meanwhile, the Journal announced its picks in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqjournal.com\/opinion\/editorials\/1892314opinion05-18-08.htm\" target=\"_blank\">a single editorial<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The newspaper praised Tinsley\u2019s work ethic, said he\u2019s strong on border issues and, while he\u2019s worked on oil and gas development, he also \u201cknows the importance of investing in wind, solar and nuclear energy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Teague, the Journal endorsement stated, \u201cisn\u2019t afraid of challenges.\u201d It said his \u201cbusinessman\u2019s approach to problem solving and the twang of oil patch in his voice\u201d might be enough to break nearly three debates of Republican control of the congressional district.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SDET24yZurI\/AAAAAAAAFws\/12WuC9K4bow\/s1600-h\/Teague,+Harry.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SDET24yZurI\/AAAAAAAAFws\/12WuC9K4bow\/s200\/Teague,+Harry.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5201960878267284146\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>The only candidate to issue a news release reacting to his endorsement by either newspaper was Tinsley.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cToday, the Albuquerque Journal echoed what people across our district have been saying for months: I am the only candidate in this primary who exudes the work ethic, conservative credentials and diversity of experience to best represent the Republican Party on November\u2019s ballot,\u201d Tinsley said in the release. \u201cThis endorsement clearly illustrates that momentum is on our side in the race. I am honored to have the Albuquerque Journal\u2019s endorsement and statements of support behind me as I continue to work hard for the support of voters across the 2nd District.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">In the same editorial, the Journal endorsed Democrat <a href=\"http:\/\/www.benrlujan.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ben R. Luj\u00e1n<\/a> and Republican <a href=\"http:\/\/marcogonzalesforcongress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Marco Gonzales<\/a> in the 3rd Congressional District race.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"MsoNormal\">Update, 1:35 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">In a news release, Greer said he is \u201cdistinctly honored to receive the endorsement of the Sun-News.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cThis is yet one more example of how strong my grassroots campaign is and that my message is really hitting home with voters,\u201d Greer said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cHe\u2019s a businessman raised with ranching values, he lives in the district, he\u2019s a long-time Republican and he\u2019s not beholden to any special-interest groups,\u201d said Timera Woodell Drake, Greer\u2019s communications director. \u201cWhat better candidate to represent our district?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-style: italic;\" class=\"MsoNormal\">As I\u2019ve disclosed in the past, I\u2019m friends with McCamley.
