Republican 2nd Congressional District candidate Ed Tinsley<\/a> is out with a new mailer that attacks primary opponent Monty Newman<\/a>, while Newman is up today with his first TV ad.<\/p>\n

While many across the 2nd District have already seen the National Association of Realtors\u2019 TV ad<\/a> in support of Newman, today\u2019s is the first ad from the Newman campaign. Here it is:<\/p>\n

The ad introduces Newman as the former Hobbs<\/st1:City> mayor and a small businessman whose son served in Iraq<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> and wife teaches elementary school. Then it focuses on the fact that Newman has taught Bible school for more than 20 years.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to bring pro-faith, pro-life values to Washington<\/st1:place><\/st1:State>, and that\u2019s why I approved this message,\u201d Newman says at the end of the ad.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

I know that the ad is running on El Paso<\/st1:City><\/st1:place> television, but I don\u2019t know whether it\u2019s running anywhere else or the size of the buy.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Tinsley mailer, which you can view by clicking here<\/a>, states that Newman raised taxes and fees as a city commissioner and mayor of Hobbs<\/st1:place><\/st1:City> while slashing funding for law enforcement.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen Monty Newman was mayor of Hobbs<\/st1:City><\/st1:place>, taxpayers got a bad deal,\u201d the ad states. \u201cHigher taxes, higher fees, more crime. We can\u2019t afford Monty Newman.\u201d<\/p>\n
