We can only hope he remembered to tell the lieutenant governor this time around.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city> went to the Kentucky Derby on Saturday and accepted an award in <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Philadelphia<\/st1:city><\/st1:place> without telling Lt. Gov. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ltgovernor.state.nm.us\/\" target=\"_blank\">Diane Denish<\/a> he would be out of state and she would be acting governor. Meanwhile, a fire was destroying dozens of homes near <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Albuquerque<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> \u2013 a situation that required a close watch from those in charge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The governor\u2019s office told the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.abqjournal.com\/news\/state\/304419nm05-04-08.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Albuquerque Journal<\/a> that failing to notify Denish was an \u201coversight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">But it\u2019s no secret that the relationship between <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> and Denish hasn\u2019t been rosy in recent months. She\u2019s a supporter of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hillaryclinton.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hillary Clinton<\/a> and he\u2019s a supporter of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.barackobama.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Barack Obama<\/a>. There has been a dispute about the security Denish is (or is not) provided by the State Police. And Denish stepped into a fight between the governor and Senate during the legislative session by doing what the Senate wanted and accepting the capital outlay bill for the governor\u2019s office after his staff went home and his office went dark.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The governor and lieutenant governor don\u2019t have to like each other for state government to operate properly, but they do have to communicate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city> will be accompanied by three cabinet secretaries and the state police chief on his trip to <st1:country-region st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>. Among the items on his agenda is a speech on Thursday at the U.S.-Mexico Border Health Association Conference in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Sonora<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>.
