{"id":31625,"date":"2011-09-07T17:00:50","date_gmt":"2011-09-07T23:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/?p=31625"},"modified":"2011-10-08T21:43:53","modified_gmt":"2011-10-09T03:43:53","slug":"cruces-council-candidate-also-wanted-for-dwi-in-virginia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2011\/09\/cruces-council-candidate-also-wanted-for-dwi-in-virginia\/","title":{"rendered":"Cruces council candidate also wanted for DWI in Virginia"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_31374\"  class=\"wp-caption module image alignright\" style=\"max-width: 120px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-31374\" title=\"Dailey, Ryan\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/Dailey-Ryan.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"120\" height=\"160\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ryan Dailey<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Las Cruces City Council District 4 candidate Ryan Matthew Dailey, who was arrested Sunday on drunken driving charges in Las Cruces, is also wanted on a federal warrant for DWI in Virginia.<\/p>\n<p>Until a federal magistrate in Las Cruces decides whether to extradite Dailey to Virginia or release him and order him to appear for court in that state, Dailey is being held at the Do\u00f1a Ana County Detention Center.<\/p>\n<p>Ben Segotta, the public information officer for the U.S. Marshals Service in New Mexico, said Dailey is wanted for DWI in Norfolk, Virginia. The charge is federal because Dailey was allegedly driving under the influence on a Naval base there.<\/p>\n<p>Dailey spent two years in the Navy. Because he\u2019s in jail, NMPolitics.net has not been able to reach him to ask if he\u2019s staying in the city council race.<\/p>\n<p>His Sunday arrest in Las Cruces resulted in charges of aggravated drunken driving, improper lane usage and lack of due care.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lcsun-news.com\/las_cruces-news\/ci_18835018\" target=\"_blank\">Las Cruces Sun-News<\/a> reported Tuesday on another incident involving Dailey:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cLast year, he was asked not to return to the Mesilla Reserve Deputy Marshals program after an incident at El Patio Bar &amp; Cantina, current Mesilla Marshal Jeff Gray said Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018There was a scene of some sort and he was asked to leave the bar,\u2019 Gray said. \u2018Our officers went there to find out what the ruckus was about. He was outside and asked to leave and given a ride home.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGray said the responding officer, who is no longer with the Marshals, did not make a report on the incident, but that Dailey was allegedly intoxicated. Several weeks later, then-Marshal Marcel Jojola asked Dailey not to return, Gray said.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Dailey has been running for the seat currently held by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/las-cruces.org\/Government\/Legislative\/City%20Council\/District%204.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Nathan Small<\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/aaronhenrydiaz.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Aaron Henry Diaz<\/a>\u00a0has also\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2011\/08\/diaz-enters-cruces-city-council-race\/\" target=\"_blank\">entered the District 4 race<\/a>. The election is Nov. 8.<\/p>\n<h3>Update, Sept. 8, 2:40 p.m.<\/h3>\n<p>Dailey faces two misdemeanor charges in Virginia.
