Former Speaker of the House Raymond Sanchez also won, securing a little more than 75 percent of the vote against Bruce Barnaby.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Democrats in each state elect a national committeeman and national committeewoman to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dnc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">DNC<\/a>. In addition to being charged with representing the state\u2019s issues to the national party and communicating national issues to the state\u2019s Democrats, both are superdelegates to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.demconvention.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Democratic National Convention<\/a> in <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Denver<\/st1:city><\/st1:place> in August.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Gwaltney and Sanchez have both pledged their support to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hillaryclinton.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hillary Clinton<\/a> in the presidential primary.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Democratic national committeeman and committeewoman for New Mexico successfully fought off challenges to be re-elected at the party\u2019s state central committee meeting this weekend.
