The votes that have been tallied add up to 2,163, or 29 percent of the 7,389 registered voters in <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Sierra<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">County<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place>. Some 18.5 percent of registered voters cast their ballots early or absentee.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">By comparison, total turnout in <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Do\u00f1a<\/st1:placename> <st1:placename st=\"on\">Ana<\/st1:placename> <st1:placename st=\"on\">County<\/st1:placename><\/st1:place> a year ago was 18 percent. The tax was approved there by a 270-vote, 1.6-percent margin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Steve Landeene, the executive director of the spaceport, said he wasn\u2019t ready to celebrate yet.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cSo far the precincts are very favorable and we\u2019re feeling good at the moment, but we\u2019re going to wait and see what happens,\u201d he said in a phone interview. \u201cI\u2019m going to wait until the last vote\u2019s in, but early returns are very positive. \u2026 It\u2019s a good moment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">I\u2019ve already written about the importance of today\u2019s vote to the spaceport and what the next steps would be if the tax was approved.
