\"\"<\/a>Former Gov. Garrey Carruthers<\/a> has endorsed Ed Tinsley\u2019s<\/a> candidacy for the 2nd Congressional District seat currently held by Steve Pearce<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Carruthers, now the dean of the Business<\/st1:PlaceName> College<\/st1:PlaceType> and vice president for economic development at New Mexico<\/st1:PlaceName> State<\/st1:PlaceType> University<\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place>, cited Tinsley\u2019s business experience as a reason for his endorsement. Carruthers and Tinsley are both Republicans.<\/p>\n

<\/o:p><\/p>\n

\u201cEd\u2019s wide-ranging business experience, consistent conservative values and extensive knowledge of the issues facing New Mexico<\/st1:state> make him the only candidate in the race that will effectively represent the voters of New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>\u2019s 2nd Congressional District from day one,\u201d Carruthers said in a Saturday news release from the Tinsley campaign.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Carruthers said, in \u201cwhat are very uncertain economic times,\u201d the district needs \u201ca congressman who doesn\u2019t require on-the-job training and isn\u2019t a career politician.\u201d He cited Tinsley\u2019s 30 years as a rancher as \u201cthe kind of real-world experience\u201d the district needs, and said it demonstrates Tinsley\u2019s dedication to the land and people of the 2nd District.<\/p>\n

Tinsley thanked Carruthers for his support and said Carruthers is now a senior adviser to his campaign.<\/p>\n
