She has missed votes on \u201cexpanding opportunities for college students to get loans to pay for school\u201d and \u201can important vote to add FISA legislation to a bill,\u201d according to the release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The release points out again, as the Pearce campaign did on Wednesday in <a href=\"http:\/\/haussamen.blogspot.com\/2008\/04\/pearce-attacks-wilson-for-missing.html\">a separate news release<\/a>, that Wilson missed a vote on Tuesday on whether to strip sanctuary cities \u2013 those that refuse to help the federal government enforce immigration laws \u2013 of their tax-exempt status. The proposal failed on a tie vote, 210-210, so <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Wilson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> could have cast the vote that would have led to House approval of the proposal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SAY4JWLiVnI\/AAAAAAAAFfk\/pu_9jmPOeCw\/s1600-h\/Wilson,+Heather.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/SAY4JWLiVnI\/AAAAAAAAFfk\/pu_9jmPOeCw\/s200\/Wilson,+Heather.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5189897353815021170\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Wilson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> was one of 15 members of the House who missed that vote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cNew Mexicans have to be asking themselves where in the world is Heather Wilson,\u201d Pearce Campaign Manager John Billingsley said in a news release. \u201cHeather Wilson is putting her political interests above the interests of her constituents here in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New   Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> and her responsibilities as the people\u2019s representative. New Mexicans deserve better from their representative and from their Senate candidates.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI wouldn\u2019t want to be in Heather\u2019s shoes when she tries to explain to New Mexicans why she missed votes on making college loans more available to students and why she wasn\u2019t there to vote to protect our country by allowing our government to wiretap terrorists,\u201d Billingsley said. \u201cNew Mexicans were counting on Heather Wilson to stand up for them in Congress, but now we know that she has different priorities, and voters will remember that on June 3.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Wilson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> campaign referred questions to her congressional office because the issue involves votes. If I receive comment, you\u2019ll read it here.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"MsoNormal\">Update, 4:15 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Wilson<\/st1:place><\/st1:City>\u2019s congressional spokesman, Enrique Carlos Knell, released this statement:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cCongresswoman Wilson is in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:State> this week,\u201d he said. \u201cShe has a full schedule and is talking to people about things that are important to the future of <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:State>.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican U.S. Senate candidate Steve Pearce continued today his attacks on primary opponent Heather Wilson for being in New Mexico campaigning this week instead of voting on bills in Washington.
