{"id":3083,"date":"2008-04-10T17:08:00","date_gmt":"2008-04-10T23:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2008\/04\/pearce-backing-group-attacks-wilson-in-ad\/"},"modified":"2008-04-10T17:08:00","modified_gmt":"2008-04-10T23:08:00","slug":"pearce-backing-group-attacks-wilson-in-ad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2008\/04\/pearce-backing-group-attacks-wilson-in-ad\/","title":{"rendered":"Pearce-backing group attacks Wilson in ad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.clubforgrowth.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Club for Growth<\/a>, a conservative group that has endorsed <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peopleforpearce.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Steve Pearce<\/a> in the U.S. Senate primary, has created a new ad attacking <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heatherforsenate.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Heather Wilson<\/a> as a \u201cliberal\u201d spendthrift.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Here\u2019s the ad:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><object height=\"351\" width=\"420\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/PepR7Vq0w_8\"><param name=\"wmode\" value=\"transparent\"><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/PepR7Vq0w_8\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" wmode=\"transparent\" height=\"351\" width=\"420\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">It attacks her for voting in favor of congressional earmarks that are often tucked into unrelated but important bills \u2013 bills Pearce often votes against simply because of the earmarks \u2013 and accuses her of voting against \u201cefforts to stop wasteful earmark spending\u201d 90 percent of the time. That, the ad states, is \u201cone of the worst spending records of any Republican in Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">When the ad makes that claim, images of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.house.gov\/pelosi\/\" target=\"_blank\">Nancy Pelosi<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hillaryclinton.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hillary Clinton<\/a> appear.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The ad comes complete with a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.clubforgrowth.net\/2008\/04\/heather_wilsons_record_on_wast.html\" target=\"_blank\">Web page<\/a> that lists what it calls wasteful spending <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Wilson<\/st1:city><\/st1:place> has voted to approve.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Wilson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> campaign declined to comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">It\u2019s not clear if or when the Club for Growth will run the ad on television, but it has run ads attacking other candidates and politicians in the past.
