In the Second Congressional District, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.harryteagueforcongress08.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Harry Teague<\/a> is up on cable with two ads, while in the Third Congressional District, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.benrlujan.com\/home.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Ben R. Luj\u00e1n<\/a> is running his first ad this week and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.donfornewmexico.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Don Wiviott<\/a> is beginning his third.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Here\u2019s a rundown on the ads:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size:130%;\">Harry Teague<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Teague\u2019s first 30-second ad, titled \u201cLeadership,\u201d focuses on his plan to end the war in Iraq and use that money to instead expand employment and health-care opportunities and improve education.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The second ad, titled \u201cResults,\u201d introduces Teague as a <st1:city st=\"on\">Hobbs<\/st1:city> oilman who helped create more than 2,000 jobs in <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Lea<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">County<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place> and provided health insurance and educational scholarships for his employees.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">A news release from the Teague campaign stated that the ads show Teague\u2019s commitment to getting results on issues that matter most to <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> families.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI want the people of the Second Congressional District to know I am committed to bring our troops home from Iraq, to providing access to health care, improving our schools and creating good jobs here in New Mexico,\u201d Teague said. \u201cThe ads\u2026 are just part of my effort to let voters know I plan to go to <st1:state st=\"on\">Washington<\/st1:state> and get things done for <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> families.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Teague Campaign Manager Bradley Foster said the ads are running mostly on cable television for the time being. Luj\u00e1n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Luj\u00e1n\u2019s ad, titled \u201cHeart and Soul,\u201d starts with the candidate saying he has always believed \u201cthat people are the heart and soul of <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>.\u201d He says he\u2019s running for Congress \u201cto stand up for <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> and the people who make it great.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Luj\u00e1n pledges in the ad to fight for affordable health care and, \u201cjust as I\u2019ve done on the Public Regulation Commission,\u201d help create jobs by investing in alternative energy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cThis ad emphasizes my belief that people are the heart and soul of our state,\u201d Luj\u00e1n said in a news release. \u201cAs I visit the communities of Northern New Mexico, I meet so many people excited about our campaign to bring the values that are important to New Mexicans \u2013 such as standing up to the special interests, making <st1:country-region st=\"on\">America<\/st1:country-region> energy-independent and ending the war in <st1:country-region st=\"on\">Iraq<\/st1:country-region> \u2013 to <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Washington<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cOnce people learn about Commissioner Luj\u00e1n\u2019s record on the issues important to New Mexico Democrats, the decision in Congressional District 3 will be clear,\u201d Campaign Manager Carlos Trujillo said. \u201cHe has stood up to the big insurance companies to protect consumer interests. He has taken on the utility companies and made New <st1:country-region st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> a leader in renewable-energy production. In Congress he will continue to stand up for New Mexicans, and this ad campaign will highlight his record and proposals for Congress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Trujillo<\/st1:city> said the ad will run in the <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Albuquerque<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> market for a couple of weeks. Here it is:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><object height=\"351\" width=\"420\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/66NJtTUbu1s\"><param name=\"wmode\" value=\"transparent\"><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/66NJtTUbu1s\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" wmode=\"transparent\" height=\"351\" width=\"420\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size:130%;\">Don Wiviott<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Wiviott has already run his <a href=\"http:\/\/haussamen.blogspot.com\/2008\/02\/wiviott-is-first-house-candidate-on.html\">introductory ads<\/a>, so his new ad focuses specifically on <st1:country-region st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Iraq<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cOne of the first things I would do when I get to <st1:state st=\"on\">Washington<\/st1:state> is get our troops out of <st1:country-region st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Iraq<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> as quickly as possible,\u201d he says in the ad.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Wiviott says in the ad that he would \u201cput the squeeze on funding\u201d and \u201cget the troops out.\u201d He also says he doesn\u2019t believe corporations \u201cshould be dictating where we should establish an American presence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Wiviott\u2019s ad, which like the others began running Monday, was timed to coincide with Tuesday\u2019s testimony before Congress by Ambassador Ryan Crocker and General David Petraeus. Wiviott asked people last week to submit questions through his Web site they wanted asked during Tuesday\u2019s hearing. He submitted three of his own questions and two submitted through his site, according to a news release from his campaign.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">That has been getting Wiviott some attention on national liberal blogs including <a href=\"http:\/\/openleft.com\/showDiary.do?diaryId=5006\" target=\"_blank\">Open Left<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/matt-stoller\/democratic-candidates-off_b_95516.html\" target=\"_blank\">Huffington Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Here\u2019s the ad:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><object height=\"351\" width=\"420\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/FSK9CMxYIJA&amp;hl=en\"><param name=\"wmode\" value=\"transparent\"><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/FSK9CMxYIJA&amp;hl=en\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" wmode=\"transparent\" height=\"351\" width=\"420\"><\/embed><\/object><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"MsoNormal\">Update, 9:50 a.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund is up with a new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.2bad4nm.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Web site<\/a> and TV ad in New Mexico attacking GOP Senate candidates <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peopleforpearce.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Steve Pearce<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heatherforsenate.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Heather Wilson<\/a>.
