On Tuesday, his campaign filed 6,700 signatures with the Secretary of State\u2019s Office in an attempt to make that claim a reality.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Nader told the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.santafenewmexican.com\/SantaFeNorthernNM\/Nader-files-for--N-M--ballot-status-\" target=\"_blank\">Associated Press<\/a> that <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:state st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:state><\/st1:place> is the first of at least 40 states where his campaign will file to appear on the November ballot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cWe\u2019re drawing a bright line between us and the three corporate candidates,\u201d the news service quoted him as saying.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Nader is running in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New   Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> under his newly formed Independent Party, rather than as a candidate independent of any party, because it\u2019s easier to qualify for the ballot as a minor-party candidate than as a candidate not affiliated with any party.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Robert Baroody, state chair of the Independent Party, told the Associated Press that the GOP\u2019s policies are \u201cviolent and destructive,\u201d and Democrats offer \u201ca lot of generalities and platitudes.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader said last week that New Mexico would be the first state where he qualified for the ballot.
