Jeremiah Wright bubbled threw the <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:state st=\"on\">Illinois<\/st1:state><\/st1:place> senator a lifeline when he badly needed one,\u201d Chris Cillizza wrote in a posting earlier today on The Fix. \u201cThe <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New   Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> governor has an extremely deep r\u00e9sum\u00e9 that would nicely complement Obama\u2019s strengths. A <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> pick could also serve as a symbolic olive branch to the Hispanic community, which has gone heavily against Obama in the primaries, and add to the historic nature of the ticket.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/R-0ZSYV6MHI\/AAAAAAAAFWA\/kirC7vjvB4s\/s1600-h\/Obama,+Barack.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_IabUCQmoheQ\/R-0ZSYV6MHI\/AAAAAAAAFWA\/kirC7vjvB4s\/s200\/Obama,+Barack.jpg\" alt=\"\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5182826549735993458\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rightpundits.com\/?p=1286\" target=\"_blank\">Rightpundits.com<\/a> calls Richardson \u201cthe leading candidate\u201d to be Obama\u2019s running mate, pointing out that <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> helps Obama out West and in an important swing state, in the areas of foreign-policy and executive experience, and among Hispanics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cRarely can a VP pick bring so much to a ticket. In <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>\u2019s case, as Obama\u2019s VP, he brings executive experience, foreign policy experience, geography and ethnicity to the Democrat ticket,\u201d the site\u2019s posting states.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">And an <a href=\"http:\/\/richardson4vp.blogspot.com\/2008\/03\/richardson-endorses-obama.html\" target=\"_blank\">unofficial blog<\/a> started in January to promote <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> for vice president is now touting an \u201cObama\/Richardson 2008\u201d ticket.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">But the site <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thepresidentialcandidates.us\/obamas-vp-possibilities\/270\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Presidential Candidates<\/a> suggests there might be a negative to an Obama\/Richardson ticket: It \u201cwould place even more emphasis on race in this campaign, and that makes white folks mighty uncomfortable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cThat\u2019s the sad reality. I think the more race is an issue in this campaign, the more difficult it will be for Obama to win,\u201d a posting on that site states.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Of course, no one is talking at this point about <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city><\/st1:place> being a possible running mate for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hillaryclinton.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hillary Clinton<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Richardson<\/st1:city> isn\u2019t, at least publicly, actively seeking the vice presidency, but he\u2019s doing a lot to keep his name in the national news, and few believe he intends to stay in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>. Many believe he\u2019s more likely to be secretary of state or grab another cabinet-level position than become vice president if the Democrats win the White House.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Speculation on potential vice-presidential candidates changes with the news every week.
