The exact date will be spelled out in an impending order.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce set, Smith told prosecution and defense attorneys that the deadline won\u2019t change \u2018short of death or illness.\u2019\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Murphy is facing\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2011\/05\/murphy-charged-with-bribery-other-felonies\/\" target=\"_blank\">felony bribery charges<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2011\/06\/murphy-faces-additional-misdemeanor-charge\/\" target=\"_blank\">a misdemeanor charge<\/a> of violating the state\u2019s Governmental Conduct Act.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors\u00a0allege that Murphy <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2011\/05\/report-details-allegations-against-murphy\/\" target=\"_blank\">solicited a bribe<\/a> from potential judicial applicant Beverly Singleman, told District Judge Lisa Schultz to tell Singleman she needed to pay the bribe, and threatened to destroy Singleman\u2019s reputation for telling others that he solicited a bribe from her.<\/p>\n<p>No one besides Murphy has been charged or received notice that they may be indicted, but the investigation is ongoing.
