The developer, Philip Philippou , plans condominiums, businesses and other buildings on the country club\u2019s current location, a 110-acre plot that was once in a fairly rural area but is now surrounded by homes and businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Miyagishima says he\u2019ll fight that, even if it means resorting to the controversial tactic. Several states are considering proposals to limit eminent domain.<\/p>\n<p>Miyagishima first made his comments last week on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swickard.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Michael Swickard Show<\/a>, then again Monday at the city council meeting.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kvia.com\/Global\/story.asp?S=5051576\" target=\"_blank\">KVIA<\/a>, Mayor Bill Mattiace said he won\u2019t allow the use of eminent domain, and insists that compromise is the only solution.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Las Cruces City Councilor Ken Miyagishima is using what is to many a dirty phrase \u2013 eminent domain \u2013 but to others could be welcome if it means saving some green space at the Las Cruces County Club\u2019s current location.
