Jon Barela<\/p><\/div>\n

Economic Development Secretary Jon Barela<\/a>, who ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 2010, is thinking about running again next year.<\/p>\n

The Mountain View Telegraph<\/a> has the scoop:<\/p>\n

\u201cEven though Jon Barela was at the first meeting of the newly formed Sandia Tea Party as the secretary-designate of the state\u2019s Economic Development Department, he sure sounded like a candidate.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2026 After his speech, Barela demurred when asked if he was considering another run for Congress. Barela was defeated by Rep. Martin Heinrich<\/a> in 2010 for the right to represent New Mexico\u2019s First Congressional District.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018We\u2019re looking at it,\u2019 was all Barela would say about another run.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

On the Republican side in the race to replace Heinrich in the House, Albuquerque City Councilor\u00a0Dan Lewis<\/a> is running<\/a>, and\u00a0former gubernatorial candidate and state Rep.\u00a0Janice Arnold-Jones<\/a> of Albuquerque has\u00a0formed an exploratory committee<\/a>.<\/p>\n

On the Democratic side, State Sen.\u00a0Eric Griego<\/a> is running, and Albuquerque Mayor Martin Ch\u00e1vez<\/a> is considering entering the race<\/a>. So is Terry Brunner, U.S. Sen.\u00a0Jeff Bingaman\u2019s<\/a> former state director who now heads USDA Rural Development in New Mexico.<\/p>\n

Sources say former Lt. Gov. Diane Denish<\/a>, who had been considering the race, isn\u2019t going to run.<\/p>\n
