Davis<\/a> has announced his candidacy for the <a href=\"http:\/\/legis.state.nm.us\/lcs\/DistrictMaps\/2002SenateDistricts\/Senate10.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">District 10<\/a> seat in the state Senate.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Calling himself a \u201cyoung Democratic gun\u201d in a news release, <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Davis<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> said he\u2019s running a campaign on change and will bring a fresh approach and energized leadership to the Senate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI am the democratic candidate that will represent my bi-city district with equal representation and strong leadership,\u201d he said of the district that is split between Bernalillo and Sandoval counties.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cMy primary motivation for seeking office is to follow the call of my district and my heart to make a positive difference in New Mexicans\u2019 lives,\u201d <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Davis<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> said. \u201cI will be a positive voice for change.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Davis<\/st1:city> is a local attorney who owns and practices in a general-practice law firm located in downtown <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Albuquerque<\/st1:place><\/st1:city>. He lives with his wife Lisa in Rio Rancho.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Davis<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> has been active in grassroots organizing and working on local-level issues since he was a youngster tagging along with his mother, Cathy Navarro, at her local carpenter\u2019s union field house, according to the news release. <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Davis<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> has participated as an analyst at the New Mexico Legislature for both the House and Senate Democratic leadership since 2002 and is a former assistant district attorney in Rio Rancho.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Among other important issues, <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Davis<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> said he is concerned about local economic sustainability, protecting public lands and rivers and working to ensure that every New Mexican has access to quality health care.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Davis<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> is running for the seat currently held by Republican <a href=\"http:\/\/legis.state.nm.us\/lcs\/legdetails.asp?Name=308&amp;Submit=Search\" target=\"_blank\">John Ryan<\/a>. Ryan will face Robert \u201cKevin\u201d Sikes in the primary, and <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Davis<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> will face Democrat Victor Paul Raigoza in the primary.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Attorney Joel A.
