Earl Greer<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.edtinsleyforcongress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ed Tinsley<\/a> also qualified for the ballot.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Dunn received the support of 40 delegates, or 30 percent, while Greer and Tinsley each received 33 votes, or 24 percent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.montyforcongress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Monty Newman<\/a> narrowly missed qualifying for the ballot, receiving 25 votes, or 18.5 percent of the vote. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.terrymarquardt.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Terry Marquardt<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shortbaldhonest.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Greg Sowards<\/a> each received two votes, or about 1 percent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"MsoNormal\">Update, 4:35 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Dunn had this to say about his victory:<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI\u2019m grateful to have the support of grassroots Republicans across <st1:place st=\"on\">Southern New Mexico<\/st1:place>, and I look forward to taking on the Democrat candidate in November,\u201d he said in a news release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Greer\u2019s campaign, meanwhile, said in a news release that he won a drawing with Tinsley and will appear second behind Dunn on the June ballot. Tinsley will appear third.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI am extremely pleased with the outcome of this convention,\u201d Greer said in the release. \u201cThe voters of this district believe in my ability to keep <st1:state st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:state>\u2019s values and interests close to heart while serving in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Washington<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Greer\u2019s communications director, Timera Drake, called Greer \u201cthe people\u2019s candidate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cHe doesn\u2019t consider this a hobby; he considers it a sacred trust between him and the people of the second district. He isn\u2019t financing his campaign with hundreds of thousands of dollars of his own money to \u2018see\u2019 if he can win. All of his money is from true supporters who believe in his abilities to serve <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> faithfully,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"MsoNormal\">Update, 4:45 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Tinsley said in a news release that he\u2019s grateful for the delegates who put their support behind him today.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cI look forward to the primary race ahead,\u201d he said. \u201cI will continue to run a campaign based on the issues that matter to the people that live in our district.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">His campaign spokeswoman, Sarah Lenti, said voters reaffirmed what the campaign has been saying: \u201cEd Tinsley has the diversity of experience and leadership ability that <st1:place st=\"on\">Southern New Mexico<\/st1:place> voters are looking for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cWe will continue to run a positive, issue-based campaign,\u201d she said. \u201cWe\u2019ve known from the start that this would be a tight race.
