She has served as a paralegal in private law firms and with the offices of the <st1:country-region st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">U.S.<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> attorney and federal public defender. She has worked in U.S. District Court under Judges Leslie Smith and Joe H. Galvan and as an investigator\/labor-law administrator for the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions. She has served previously as a county magistrate judge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">She has been a presiding judge with <st1:street st=\"on\"><st1:address st=\"on\">Do\u00f1a Ana Teen Court<\/st1:address><\/st1:street> since 1999 and is a board member for the Mesilla Valley Court Appointed Special Advocates program, which works with foster children in the legal system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cExperience matters, especially given the range of cases heard in the magistrate system,\u201d Rodriguez said, \u201cI\u2019m eager to return to the bench and serve the people of our county.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Democrat Maria Rodriguez, 48, of Las Cruces, has announced her candidacy for Do\u00f1a Ana County Magistrate Court judge.
