During her tenure, according to a news release announcing her re-election bid, she has implemented a successful victim assistance program in the state. She has also been recognized as a strong advocate for the elderly in implementing the Communities Against Senior Exploitation program, which attempts to protect the elderly from predators and scam artists.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">She\u2019s also been recognized as a strong advocate in animal-abuse cases.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cHer tough stances on repeat offenders, violent offenders and child-abuse cases have given her statewide recognition as one of the toughest and most successful prosecutors in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>,\u201d the release states. \u201cHer success in the area of child abuse prosecution has earned her recognition as a national expert in child abuse.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Martinez<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> has received many state and national awards in her 22 years as a prosecutor, including a 2008 Crossing Borders Award given by the Border Learning Conference Committee, the Hispanic Triumphant Border Award, Heart Magazine\u2019s 2007 Woman of the Year award and the state\u2019s 1999 Legal Impact Prosecutor of the Year award. She was a recipient of the governor\u2019s award for outstanding <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> women in 1997. <st1:city st=\"on\">Martinez<\/st1:city> has also been recognized by the <span style=\"\">City of <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Las Cruces<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> for her assistance with successful child abuse legislation in 2005.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Do\u00f1a Ana County District Attorney Susana Martinez has announced that she\u2019s seeking re-election this year.
