We cannot be a moral vacuum,\u201d Pearce said at the Valencia County GOP convention on Saturday. \u201cIf we try to do that I will guarantee that the same thing will happen to us that happened in <st1:country-region st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">England<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>. They export more radical Islamic terrorists today than any country in the <st1:place st=\"on\">Middle East<\/st1:place>. Senators \u2013 and people who want to be senators \u2013 should not say irresponsible things like this,\u201d <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Wilson<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> said. \u201c\u2026<st1:country-region st=\"on\">Great Britain<\/st1:country-region> and the <st1:country-region st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">United States<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> have had an unwavering, special relationship since World War II. We have a closer relationship with <st1:country-region st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Britain<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> than with any other ally in the War on Terror. To claim that <st1:country-region st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Britain<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> \u2018exports\u2019 more terrorists than the long list of countries that actively support and fund terrorism is incorrect and offensive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The Pearce campaign declined to justify the remarks or apologize for them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cRep. Pearce has run a positive campaign focusing on his vision for building a more free, secure and prosperous New <st1:country-region st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>,\u201d spokesman Brian Phillips said. \u201c\u2026Mrs. Wilson\u2019s campaign has unfortunately chosen a very different and negative path that does not serve well the people of <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:state st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:state><\/st1:place>. Instead of calling for apologies, <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:state st=\"on\">New   Mexico<\/st1:state><\/st1:place> would be better served if she joined us in calling for lower taxes, pro-life policies and eliminating wasteful spending and out-of-control earmarks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Pearce hasn\u2019t stayed entirely above the fray. At the Do\u00f1a Ana County GOP convention on Saturday, he called himself the only candidate with a 100-percent rating on votes related to combating abortion and keeping taxes low.
