{"id":28904,"date":"2011-04-30T16:06:36","date_gmt":"2011-04-30T22:06:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/?p=28904"},"modified":"2011-05-01T21:49:31","modified_gmt":"2011-05-02T03:49:31","slug":"gonzales-narrowly-re-elected-dem-party-chairman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2011\/04\/gonzales-narrowly-re-elected-dem-party-chairman\/","title":{"rendered":"Gonzales narrowly re-elected Dem Party chairman"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_11018\"  class=\"wp-caption module image alignright\" style=\"max-width: 270px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11018 \" title=\"Gonzales, Javier\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/Gonzales-Javier.jpg\" alt=\"Javier Gonzales\" width=\"270\" height=\"245\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Javier Gonzales<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Members of the <a href=\"http:\/\/nmdemocrats.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Democratic Party of New Mexico\u2019s<\/a> State Central Committee narrowly voted today to give Javier Gonzales another two-year term as their chairman.<\/p>\n<p>Gonzales won with 191 votes to Sam Bregman\u2019s 180 and Letitia Montoya\u2019s nine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday Democrats emerged united and ready for victory in 2012,\u201d Gonzales said in a news release. \u201cOur mission is clear: Secure re-election for President Obama, elect a Democrat to succeed Jeff Bingaman and continue to hold Governor Martinez\u2019s feet to the fire over her divisive agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNew Mexicans want leaders focused on creating jobs and investing in education \u2013 and they\u2019re not getting that from Martinez and the GOP,\u201d Gonzales said.<\/p>\n<p>Gonzales, 44 and a regent at New Mexico State University, has served as party chairman since 2009 and led the party during last year\u2019s shellacking.
