State Auditor Hector Balderas<\/p><\/div>\n

U.S. Senate candidate Hector Balderas<\/a> is responding to opponent Martin Heinrich\u2019s<\/a> endorsements from large political committees by releasing a list of local officials backing him.<\/p>\n

The move is designed to paint the Democratic primary race as being between a Washington insider and a grassroots candidate.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith their support, we\u2019re looking forward to building a true statewide grassroots campaign to ensure a brighter future for our children,\u201d Balderas said in a news release. \u201cOur campaign won\u2019t raise the most out-of-state special interest money, but, rather, will be fueled by the people of New Mexico yearning for a different kind of politics.\u201d<\/p>\n

The endorsements come from State Sens. Phil Griego of San Jose and Cynthia Nava of Las Cruces, State Reps. Joseph Cervantes of Las Cruces and Miguel Garcia of Albuquerque, Bernalillo County Commissioner Michelle Lujan Grisham, Taos County Commissioner Larry Sanchez, and Springer Mayor Danny Cruz.<\/p>\n

\u201cNew Mexicans trust Hector Balderas. I trust Hector Balderas,\u201d Garcia said. \u201cAt a time of great economic strife, our country needs leaders who put aside party labels and focus on finding solutions to help struggling families.\u201d<\/p>\n

Heinrich\u2019s endorsements include the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees; the New Mexico International Brotherhood of Teamsters; Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund; and, just this week<\/a>, the League of Conservation Voters and Conservation Voters New Mexico.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
