I went to both events. I thought they were both very interesting and well-done,\u201d Kissling said. \u201cI support both candidates, but I have not endorsed either.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Kissling originally told me this on Monday during the visit to <st1:city st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">Las Cruces<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.barackobama.com\/learn\/meet.php#michelle\" target=\"_blank\">Michelle Obama<\/a>, but said at the time that he didn\u2019t want me to write anything. He called today to say he had changed his mind.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Clinton<\/st1:city>\u2019s <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> spokeswoman could not immediately be reached for comment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">As things stand, <st1:city st=\"on\">Clinton<\/st1:city> has a 1,092-vote lead in <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>, with 67,921 votes to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.barackobama.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Barack Obama\u2019s<\/a> 66,829 votes. There\u2019s still one polling place in <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:placename st=\"on\">Sandoval<\/st1:placename> <st1:placetype st=\"on\">County<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place> that hasn\u2019t been counted, and work began today on consideration of about 17,000 provisional ballots.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\" class=\"MsoNormal\">Update, 12:45 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Mara Lee, <st1:city st=\"on\">Clinton<\/st1:City>\u2019s <st1:state st=\"on\"><st1:place st=\"on\">New Mexico<\/st1:place><\/st1:State> campaign director, said the campaign made a mistake in announcing Kissling as an endorser. She said the campaign \u201cconfirmed that he was a supporter early on\u201d but he never agreed to a public endorsement. Kissling told me he initially privately supported <st1:place st=\"on\"><st1:city st=\"on\">Clinton<\/st1:City><\/st1:place>, but did not agree to endorse, and has since decided he likes both candidates.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><o:p> <\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">\u201cIt was essentially miscommunication on our end and we apologize that we could have inconvenienced him,\u201d Lee said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Al Kissling, a Democratic candidate for the Second Congressional District seat being vacated by Steve Pearce, says he never agreed to endorse Hillary Clinton for president.
