{"id":28057,"date":"2011-04-04T07:32:38","date_gmt":"2011-04-04T13:32:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/?p=28057"},"modified":"2011-04-04T09:04:21","modified_gmt":"2011-04-04T15:04:21","slug":"lewis-formally-enters-congressional-race","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nmpolitics.net\/index\/2011\/04\/lewis-formally-enters-congressional-race\/","title":{"rendered":"Lewis formally enters congressional race"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_24971\"  class=\"wp-caption module image alignright\" style=\"max-width: 120px;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-24971\" title=\"Lewis, Dan\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/Lewis-Dan.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"120\" height=\"160\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dan Lewis<\/p><\/div>\n<p>As expected, Albuquerque City Councilor <a href=\"http:\/\/www.danlewis2012.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dan Lewis<\/a> formally entered the race to replace <a href=\"http:\/\/heinrich.house.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">Martin Heinrich<\/a> in the U.S. House on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The Republican vowed to help \u201cstop the insanity of rampant government spending\u201d and<br \/>\n\u201cprotect and promote job-creating small businesses\u201d in Congress, according to a news release.<\/p>\n<p>He described his main priorities as creating jobs and assisting small businesses, confronting the looming national debt, and strengthening national security.<\/p>\n<p>Lewis is the first candidate to enter the race. One other Republican, former gubernatorial candidate and state Rep. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.janicearnoldjones.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Janice Arnold-Jones<\/a>, has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2011\/03\/arnold-jones-forms-congressional-exploratory-committee\/\" target=\"_blank\">formed a congressional exploratory committee<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On the Democratic side, State Sen. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmlegis.gov\/lcs\/legdetails.aspx?SPONCODE=SGRIR\" target=\"_blank\">Eric Griego<\/a> has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmpolitics.net\/index\/2011\/04\/griego-expects-heinrich-to-run-for-senate-forms-exploratory-committee\/\" target=\"_blank\">formed an exploratory committee<\/a> as he considers the race. In addition, State Rep. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmlegis.gov\/lcs\/legdetails.aspx?SPONCODE=HMAES\" target=\"_blank\">Antonio \u201cMoe\u201d Maestas<\/a>, D-Albuquerque, announced that he is seriously considering running for the seat.
